To nourish children and raise them against odds is in any time, any place, more valuable than to fix bolts in cars or design nuclear weapons.
Marilyn French, author of The Woman's Room, passed away last week. Thought it might be nice to honor her with her quote.

Great photos. Aren't ducklings just the cutest things?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good looking family you've got there. I love the ducks. So cute.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, Julie.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sad to hear about Marilyn French. I missed the news.
ReplyDeleteHer book, The Women's Room, had a life changing impact on me, as did (although not as much) Her Mother's Daughter. She's the only author I ever wrote a fan letter to.
That's a great picture of your family. Oh wait, those are ducks!
ReplyDeleteHeh, heh. I don't think I've ever seen your mom before. Hope you guys are having a great time.
I hadn't heard..about Marilyn French...and now I'm all random, due to your post...thinking back to teaching in CO and assigning one of her essays as a prompt for a final exam...and having a female student accuse me of being biased for favoring women...
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos... your family AND the geese family. :) Looks like you guys had a fantastic weekend.
ReplyDeleteI remember our big family picnics in Ohio... always a good time. I wish I could have everyone here in KS all at the same time, but alas, that will most likely never happen. :-(
Great family shot...and the brothers aren't half bad either. :) Looks like a great gathering.
ReplyDeleteIt was warm enough to swim in the lake, and sit around in summerwear? Where are you? Even here in Georgia I wouldn't be getting in the water yet, let alone wearing shorts and tank tops!
ReplyDeleteWill the goslings be staying in the area, or do they travel around? Too cute! Have you named them yet?
What a fun looking family. Lucky you!
Why did it take me two solid minutes to figure out what that top duck was? I mean, we have ducks!
ReplyDeleteI like the quote. Sometimes I feel like raising mine is like handling nuclear weapons! Just a bit.
i love the way you did this. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos - I love that you mixed the two families together. So sad about Marilyn French.
ReplyDeletebaby geese, family and NEW SOD. Boy, life doesn't get much better than that!! :) Unless you add bacon, I mean.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking family. And loved loved loved the ducklings.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking there's a bunch of city people out there. I'll let you all know how the gosling do. Just arrived at the lake and haven't seen them yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments on the family.
Wandering in the Wayside - this is Central Texas and a seasonally warmer May. Who knows what is normal any more with the weather.
And, yes, Marilyn French. A sad on to lose. Highly recommend all reading The Women's Room.
