Roseanne Barr
Back in September, I wrote a post about the shed on the dock. Remember this white wall? Or perhaps my suggestion for a neon Blue Moon beer sign or ONE large round sign with the name of our place?
And my husband developing his own interpretation of that suggestion and ordering 17 signs. The last sign finally arrived the other day and with the help of a neighbor, they drilled the signs into place. For eternity.
Click on the picture to get the full effect. My husband is most proud. Our true "lake people" neighbors think it's great. The McMansion folks - well, maybe not so great. Me? Whatever keeps him happy. I like that he let me add a few of my own. Squeeze Me, Stomp Me. Martinis in the Twilight Lounge anyone?
I love the martini sign!
ReplyDeleteThe signs worked out really well!
ReplyDeleteI think they look alright, better than I expected.....:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteThey are great! Does it mean that you'll get more traffic now?
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteNostalgic...I like it. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually like "the Man wall"! And I think it looks kinda cool like that!
ReplyDeleteOh very cool. That's a great collection of nostalgic signs. Just perfect. :)
ReplyDeleteThe signs look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThat is the coolest wall ever! It's both nostalgic and colorful...and I love it! Your man has good ideas, and I like the signs you picked out, too.
ReplyDeleteWell, I liked your idea better, but these signs are cute. One he forgot though is the Firestone sign. You know . . . the product that said, "Wherever wheels are turning, no matter what the load, the name that's known is Firestone, da da da da, where the rubber meets the road."
ReplyDeleteNo?
Now that is clever design work!
ReplyDeleteI'm quite impressed with the layout...with the round ones placed just so and the square ones too,....and the words only ones spaced out right from the softer human imaged ones. I love the Blue Moon one.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on the whatever makes them happy thread. Mine had to have "voodoo" blue painted doors facing out screened porch.
I will have to see it before I make up my mind whether I like it or not. Different, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI think I like it. Better than Blue Moon anyway!!!
The cool thing is that this will just look more and more interesting as it all weathers--a little rust on the signs...a little wear and tear...and before you know it, some kid has grown up and writes, in a college class, a description of this amazing dock he used to look at when he was young.
ReplyDeleteAw, I like the Norman Rockwell sign!
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome! Much better than just plain ole paint. Very cool! :)
ReplyDeletelove it... it looks very good..
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I love all of the signs! Very cool!
ReplyDeleteWell, it looks fine to me. We have plenty of the Harley signs everywhere. I did make my husband take his bumper sticker off his truck that said "My lab is smarter than your honor student." Even his daughters thought that one was stupid. He thought buying it in Portland made it cool. Sheesh
ReplyDeleteToo cute! Who cares what neighbors think...unless they agree with you and then they are smart!
ReplyDeleteI like the vintage touch. And you're honoring the funky section of the lake ... which (for those of you who don't know) is far superior to the Mc Mansion section! (I got a giggle from your mom's comment.)
ReplyDeleteWow, he must be the envy of all the other people on the lake. Love the vintage signs.
ReplyDeleteIt's kitschy. I love it. And if this simple thing is so pleasing to hubby, it's got to be good.
ReplyDeleteIt's unique, and perfect.
ReplyDeleteCan I come over and hang out on the water? I'll bring a sign! ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!
That's a fun wall!
ReplyDeleteHow did he get round there to screw them up???
Love it! I hope you like random people strolling down the dock because those festive signs make me want to walk down for a visit to check them out.
ReplyDeleteThose are freakin' awesome! They bring out the kid in me. :-)
