D is for Devotion
These two will declare their devotion next year. Yup, another wedding for us. We are most happy. |
Wide
A wide shot of Lake Travis in Central Texas. This baby is now 83% full as opposed to 37% at the beginning of May. Life is returning to the Highland Lakes. |
Edge
A couple of months ago, the edge of Lake Buchannan was way out at the end of the dam on the right. This reservoir is creeping up also. Now at 71% capacity as opposed to 37%. |
Cylindrical
Feelings
Bunco Bitches, less a couple of them. Suppose after 25 years I have some feelings for them. Just a few. |
Mysterious
Mysterious indeed. |
When did these babies grow up? The one on the left has been hanging with us since he was four years old. Babies. Yesterday. |
Weed
How does my garden grow... |
Joke
If this had been hanging in that bathroom my boys used all those years, it would not have been a joke -- except for the ladies part. Funny to see while waiting for the john in a bar though. |
Pile
Summer Produce. Got your rhubarb pie, your cherries, peaches, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, heirloom tomatoes, jalapenos, green peppers, and assorted junk on the counter. |
Speed
Not quite fast enough with that badminton racket. |
Night
The Blue Moon |
Whatever I Want
Taking a little liberty here. Fourth of July week was very fun with youngest son who lives in NYC home for a week. Lots of dear friends and family around our tables. Have added just a few extra pics. Okay, more than a few. My blog.
I'll tell you what. These photo posts kill me. Takes me much longer to figure it all out and arrange than it ever did to write an essay. Might have to rethink this monthly Scavenger Hunt. Fun when its done though. Sort of like taking nothing and making something, anyway you want.
How often does one get to do that?
Wow, I can only imagine 100 degrees with the cool summer we're having here. Interesting to see how the reservoirs are recovering despite the heat. Loved all your family photos and all your produce on the counter. Stick with the Hunt - some months are easier than others. What works for me is that I set up a blank post with the categories and add as I go through the month. x
ReplyDeleteOops, sorry, lakes not reservoirs! x
DeleteYou are right. They are reservoirs. A chain of lakes connected by dams. Buchannan and Travis the anchors on either side. Three more in between all from the Colorado River (different Colorado.) We are on one of the constant level "lakes" in the middle.
DeleteAnd I like your idea of setting it up and plugging as you go. Will try that next time.
100 degrees wow! I wish it was hotter here...it's supposed to be summer.
ReplyDeleteThis month was quite tricky, I do the same as Julie and add to the draft post through the month... although quite often I've still got a few to get on the last day!
Like your pics of Devotion and your 'bitches.
Yes, those 'bitches' are pretty special. Will work on the method you and Julie suggest. And,the 100 gets old quickly.
DeleteWell it appears summer has given you quite a ride. So glad to see the reservoir villing. Let us hope that it holds!
ReplyDeleteYes, a few days of rain to ensure that would be nice. Only sunshine when I look at the extended forecast.
DeleteNice! I enjoyed looking at all the pictures, especially that crazy lady with the strange colored hair. :-)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! Yeah, she gets a little out of control. We let her come back often, though.
DeleteWhat a fun post! I enjoyed all the photos, and all the smiles. Looks like a great summer going on.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting the Lakehouse.
Debbie
I enjoyed that visit. We are in the slow part of the summer now. Seeking shade.
DeleteLovely jolly, happy photographs -most important things in the world.
ReplyDeleteYes, always so strange when everyone goes home. Rather quiet and lonely at those tables. Sometimes that is okay, though.
DeleteLovely pictures. I can relate to the babies then adult pictures. WHERE the hell does the time go. Your place looks like a fun place to be on a hot long weekend. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Beckie
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking at it, Beckie. A crowd does make it more fun, although it is pretty nice when it is quiet, too.
DeleteGosh that's hot, think I would melt... lovely set of photos.
ReplyDeleteAmanda xx
Yes, melting does occur several times a day. However, when people in cool climates are layered and freezing, I’m reminded how many years I did that. Makes the two months of extreme heat not to bad to take.
DeleteMy favorite fishing spot on IA's largest lake is still under water. We have had flood warnings downstream here with a few road closures.
ReplyDeleteThat is not good. Flooding can be devastating. Hope you home is safe and you will do well in this crisis.
DeleteThanks for taking part in this months scavenger hunt. I really like your photos of, edge, joke and pile, Greenthumb
ReplyDeleteThank you, greenthumb, for offering it.

ReplyDeleteThe imminent wedding, the Bunco Bitches, the family, the food--your life is a thing of beauty. I feel, to put it in hokey fashion, "inspired" by all this. For real.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am a storyteller, after all.
DeleteWow, looks like a whole Lotta Fun at your house! Scavenger Hunt, too, even if it's a whole Lotta Work! Thanks for the fun post and may your August be less steamy!! Doubtful, though, right? August being August...
ReplyDeleteYeah, currently 102. Gonna wait til the sun goes down to water my plants.
DeleteHi MR! Thanks for including your extra photos at the end ~ I enjoyed seeing them. Glad to see your drought worries easing too. Mysterious was hands down my favorite: such beautiful children! Putting a hunt post together is a killer, but I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I fish one. And I love seeing what everyone else has done!
ReplyDeleteGREAT NEWS the water is coming up...wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteYes, good news. Now, to keep it up, that is the next phase.
DeleteBusy times. Fun times...:)
ReplyDeleteYup, and then the slow part of the summer hits. Gotta have that though.
DeleteFunny that the photo posts are the hard part for you. The writing is for me...thus, my blog looks like a bunch of photo posts! Kudos to you for exercising all parts of your brain--even in this heat!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing when your photos. Much better eye than me.
DeleteCatching up with your Scavenger hunt and don't know how I've missed this on my Reader as I enjoy visiting you! (Life has been so busy and blogging is hit-and-miss during the Summer). You've done a good job and all the extra photos of family and friends add to an interesting post. I had to smile at 'speed', 'weed' and,of course, 'joke' and the photo for 'devotion' is so touching. Good to hear about the water situation.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. Still need to complete my rounds to everyone's posts.
DeleteAh, looks like the perfect summer--complete with a hammock!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the "devotion!"
And your Bunco Bitches look like a fun crew.
Yup, time in the hammock makes the world go round in my life. And those Bitches have been known to have a fun time or two.
DeleteWhat fun photos! And I love that bathroom sign. I don't think it would help my boys, though. They would either read it instead of aiming or they would just ignore it. ;)
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha! Yeah, they are quickly distracted regardless of a sign when it comes to aim. Thank for the laugh. Hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Your produce looks aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing, I've tried to grow for the first time this year with several disasters! I love the family pictures and that joke sign is hilarious! D for devotion is delightful! Congratulations to them when it happens!
ReplyDeleteP.S. sorry I am late visiting, I always visit after I've done mine and I'm er- a little bit late for the hunt!x
