Launching a Life - Almost Wordless Wednesday

RPT FROM 100 LOVE SONNETS

By Pablo Neruda

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz, or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off. I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers; thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance, risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way

than this: Where “I” does not exist, nor “You”, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

  3. Oh, look how young and in love they look! It brought tears to my eyes, remembering a similar photo of my husband and I when we were 25and getting ready to be married, and of my daughter and her soon to be husband ten years ago when they were getting ready to be married! Launching a new life, indeed. So much ahead of them, and don't you wish you could tell them all you've learned in your years since you and your husband had a photo like this? How to avoid the pitfalls and mistakes, as well as how to grab all the moments of adventure and enjoyment, knowing full well that they have to experience and figure it out all for themselves.

The photo of the dog is priceless and frameable! Will he be in the wedding?

  8. What a beautiful couple, they are! And I can see a striking resemblance of you, in your handsome son. And the poem is so lovely! Cheers, cher!

  9. The dog is priceless. The faces of the two humans are full of serious hope and the poem is one of the most unusual I have ever read about love. Your heart must be so full. I was thinking about The Song yesterday - hope you reveal what you chose to dance to with your boy.

I enjoy the uncommon way you take us along with you.

  10. What a beautiful post! They are such a handsome couple! And they have such a bright future of love spreading out before them! Neruda is brilliant...and you have selected a powerful example of that! But just wondering...in the midst of all this, where does the dog fit in? He made me smile!!! Fantastic photos! You are such fun! ~Janine XO

  14. Haha, Sonnet 17 seems to be making the rounds this week. I saw it on another friend's blog and stuck it on mine, too! If you have a chance, read the original out loud. Even if you don't understand Spanish, the words as written flow off the tongue like silk.

I hope that your son and his wife will not have to keep their love in the shadows, though. And that their feelings will slowly blossom over time and through experience.

When do we get to see you in the dress?

  16. And that's what the cycle of life is all about, really; new beginnings; life seen with fresh eyes as a journey is embarked upon. It's a breath of fresh air for those of us who were once there. Canine companion's wise eyes say, we're in this together--bring it.
