A.A. Milne
My organizational skills are challenged. I'm never first in line with a new post for more than a few seconds. I can't keep up with the comments. But the twining road through the forest of blog magnetism doesn't have a definite path. I find walking deeper into the forest without a compass quite enjoyable.
I'm becoming a blog slut. I want to follow everyone. From the farms in Iowa to fellow writers and avid book readers, travelers, idea gatherers, and the world's vast cultures and intricacies, if only... if only this wasn't such a good way to entertain myself and learn about the world.
Probably not the best thing for all the writing I'm not producing, the books I'm not reading, or my future ventures in life that I struggle to pinpoint. Finding a path out of the forest to occasionally view the sky or find a road is definitely a necessary endeavor. I so hate reality. But how else will I find my way back into the woods?
Alas, from the sunshine on my face from the open sky, a belated thank you to Missy at Missy's Book Nook for awarding me the Humane Award. I am humbly honored.
"The Humane Award is in order to honor certain bloggers that I feel are kindhearted individuals. They regularly take part in my blog and always leave the sweetest comments. If it wasn’t for them, my site would just be an ordinary book review blog. Their blogs are also amazing and are tastefully done on a daily basis. I thank them and look forward to our growing friendships through the blog world.”
If you're seeking a good book, Missy has the latest on what's out there to satisfy your reading tastes. She posts every day and must read 5000 words a minute. Also, authors - she is happy to review your book. Check out her site, and Missy? I'm thinking your organizational skills are NOT wandering aimlessly in the forest.
To award this to my favorite bloggers? Can't do it. I'd be all over the world, for days, choosing. Please take this lovely award and pass it on to your favorite readers and followers.
See y'all in the forest.
Blogging is addictive and time consuming. After you identify who visits regularly you then can figure out their posting routine and become a regular yourself on their blog.
ReplyDelete"I'm becoming a blog slut. I want to follow everyone." - You describe the fascination with blogging so well, but this line just cracked me up! I can certainly relate to the A.A. Milne quote, too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award.
I'm definitely becoming a blog slut. It's so addicting.
ReplyDeleteJust think...this addiction much better than others out there (e.g., meth, crack). Those addictions just guarantee you a spot on the t.v. show Cops.
Blog Sluts unite! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAs a relatively new blogger, my biggest problem has been to not become intimidated by the awesome writing talents of so many people in blogland. Seriously, not just the 'writing' as opposed to our shortcut textese on cell phones, but the topics covered, the intelligence, humor, and emotions that go into each post, the sharing of thoughts and ideas ... it's like nothing I've ever experienced.
ReplyDeleteI think all bloggers feel a bit overwhelmed at times. I am a methodical person - I put my post on in the early morning, answer comments for half an hour in the afternoon and then read as many blogs as I can in the evening - but never for more than three quarters of an hour.
ReplyDeleteThe trouble is that there is so much interesting stuff to read, isn't there?
I'm a blog slut, too. Welcome to the party. If you haven't already, join Blogoholics Anonymous. There's a link in my sidebar. It's just a graphic you can post in your sidebar to show everybody how addicted you are...
ReplyDeleteI like being lost in the forest!
I may look organized, but really I'm not. I promise you that I am probably the most disorganized person that you will ever meet!
ReplyDeleteThere's an award (another one!) waiting for you at my blog:
http://missysbooknook.blogspot.com/2009/07/heartfelt-award.html
I know how you feel! I am so far behind on my commenting. How do people post so often? I try for three times a week. Even that seems hard this summer.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do try to fit in peeing.
When I get behind like I am now, it feels a bit overwhelming to catch up on my favorite blogs. But I miss everyone when I'm gone. Congrats on your award.
ReplyDeleteGet out of my head......you said much of what I'm thinking.....
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a blogging slut. I continually find new blogs and then follow them, only to find I can't respond to the ones I normally follow.... Too many wonderful writers and far too little time! Most are on my dashboard and not my blogroll because it would extend to the basement. I think I need a secretary :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, Not quite sure how I came upon your blog, but I love it! Your vacation post was fabulous and your pics, too. Beautiful lake and scenery. I feel the same way, as most, here, that it's almost impossible to keep up with blogging, especially if you have a full time job! Congrats on your award!
ReplyDeleteI have felt this same thing the past few days. I am reading way more than writing. And then I have all these ideas and yet when I start to write my post ends up being different than what I set out to do. I guess it is a different path for everyone. The writing out there rocks!
ReplyDeleteCongrts!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I'm not the only one deep in the forest. :)
If we could only figure out how to get paid..... then would we be Professional Blog Sluts?
ReplyDeletecongrats on the award! i find it difficult to effectively use time while reading, posting, and reponding to comments as well.
ReplyDeleteAhh.. you write my thoughts exactly!! I don't write very frequently.. not because I don't have time.. but I don't always have something to write. But I really admire the disciplined writers, who, with every piece they post, just captivate me. This blogworld is a wonderful place!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the award!
Blog Slut!!!! Just love it. You are funny. Off to read some more of your posts. X
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm also working full-time, I'm finding it hard to find time to blog AND pee. And I feel bad when I get behind and don't make it around to other blogs to see what they're up to and leave a comment. I've made quite a few friends in bloggyland, and love blogging - just finding it hard to squeeze it in lately!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I would love to be a Professional Blog Slut. :)
I know exactly what you mean. I know you're thinking that I'm one of the people of which you speak because I post often but I've got to rethink my priorities. Clearly my organization skills are so much more deteriorated than yours. I have neglected way too much while blogging because well.....it's just so much more fun than the task at hand. I think you may see a change in the frequency of my posts. I'm so far behind in comments I'll never catch up. :-) So pat yourself on the back my dear and pour yourself another glass of wine. You are doing much better than I am. Hugs, SMB
ReplyDeleteI have a similar problem... I love to go visit all the blogs of people who leave comments on mine but it's really hard to keep up! All you can do is your best. And about peeing... that's easy. Take the laptop into the bathroom with you. :)
ReplyDeleteI hear you. I have too many thoughts that are constantly competing in my head to get out..
ReplyDeleteI need to slow down, and take a breather. whew. It's exhausting, isn't it?
Here is what I can tell you tonight, no matter how often you post (frankly, I get overwhelmed when people post daily! Guess what? I willfully don't use a feed, as I couldn't handle that pressure; I just click on my commenters' links when I have a few moments, here and there, throughout the week):
ReplyDeleteI value you incredibly as a reader of my blog. I value you hugely as a writer of a blog.
Finding your writing in the blogosphere feels like a rare gift. Just do what you can, when you can.
Blog Slut Sister: Rock on!
ReplyDeleteIt's true, blogging reading and commenting is addicting. So is the writing -- trying to keep up, have a semi-regular posting schedule and even more challenging, what to write.
But you are doing a fine job, dear friend. I love coming hear to read what you have to say, and by the looks of things, so does everybody else!
Hope to see you soon F-t-F. Hugs, K*
I just started and I am hooked. I go from blog to blog without even knowing that it has been three hours.
ReplyDeleteCall me a slut if you will!
It's a difficult forest to navigate, isn't it? I'm enjoying my front window break because of it but I sure as hell am missing the writing. And as I write that sentence I wonder to myself...why the heck aren't you writing anyway? Geesh!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm willing to admit that blogging has become an addiction. Sometimes when I get up in the middle of the night to pee (that's when we do it!), I come in to check my email to see if I have any comments. It's a sickness. But I figure it's better than gambling or drinking.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm back to say: OMG, when Beth dies in LITTLE WOMEN. Just thinking of that gets a sniff out of me.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen OLD YELLER since I was a kind--time to revisit?
At one commenter's suggestion, I just watched, if you can believe it, an MTV show called "16 and Pregnant," and it did, in fact, make me sniffle and get teary (babies being born, and kids being braver than their parents, always do that to me). But I still need the big cathartic release.
I kind of love that you're still mulling on it.
Blog Sluts unite, indeed. Most fun to read all your comments. Blog on, blog on.
