Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.
Sir John Lubbock
Please enjoy the view of this picture taken at the LBJ Ranch when my mom and I visited a few days ago. After a long haul of work and visitors, I'm taking a day or two off from life to regroup, read, rest, restart my engine so to speak.
But in the words of Helen Hayes, I won't rest too long, as I don't want to rust. And considering the lists of items requiring my attention, developing rust is not an option. Tomorrow, I'll start it all tomorrow. I promise, Scarlett.

You said what I am feeling... Need a rest.. maybe after this weekend... hope you have a good one! : )
ReplyDeleteI'm passing the the WD-40 just in case. :)
ReplyDelete*passing you* Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteHilarious quote. I want to sit on a bench, with a glass of wine, in that scene!
ReplyDeleteCuriously, I have A THING for LBJ. It started when I took a graduate history class about 9 years ago...and I realized that he was the one to do the things (such as civil rights legislation) that, in my mind, JFK had done.
ReplyDeleteAnd for you? Rest up, love.
Ah, the weekend. It's either feast or famine, rest or rust, nothing to do but while away the hours or work your ass off doing every chore you didn't or couldn't do during the week. Unfortunately, no rusting for me either.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture of LBJ. Was this by where you took me on the boat?
Gorgeous picture! I want to be under one of those trees with a blanket, a book and a big pitcher of iced tea. AAAH.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of enlarging photos like this on blogs(which I think most forget to do or don't want to take the time to do), and in doing so you see the detail of the scene that attracted the photographer in the first place. Just look at the beauty of the branches, the invitation of the hanging swing, and the boat sitting idle on the bank ... surely a wonderful place to sit and rest a spell.
ReplyDeleteHi - just calling to return your visit. Love that Lubbock quote and the photograph. Enjoy your little rest before picking up the reins again. Call on me again.
ReplyDeleteAmerican in Norwary - Hope you get a restful weekend.
ReplyDeleteAngie - I think I'll need that oil can when I come home from the YMCA.
TTTC - I'll sit with you. We'll finish the bottle.
Jocelyn - Big time civil rights leader. Of course, his VP, Hubert Humphrey had a great deal to do with that also.
Liar - No this is his ranch in Stonewell. What I showed you was his lake house.
Wendy - OK. We can drink iced tea, too. I know you like yours sweet.
Wander - I'm so glad you enlarged it. I forget to do that, but see so much more.
Weaver - Rest is over. Thanks for coming by here.
One of my favorite quotes. Beautiful picture. I wonder what would happen if we rested until we didn't feel like resting any more.
ReplyDeleteDeb,
ReplyDeleteI think we should try it.
